Courses

Transition

The Transition will be first come first serve and divided by Sprint & Olympic. Tri Clubs and teams will have designated areas in transition.

Swim

Olympic Swim Course (.93 Mile) & Sprint Swim Course (1/3 Mile)
  • Yellow Buoys: Hard Turns (Sprint/Olympic)
  • Orange Buoys: Sighting around the swim course

Can I stop during the swim? Yes, you can float on your back and hang on to kayak if needed. The lake offers some of the cleanest water around and features 67 to 72-degree water temperatures in June. Wetsuits are encouraged for safety but are not mandatory. You will have a short run from the water exit to the transition area.

Bike

Olympic Bike Course (24.9 Miles/40k)
  • Bike Course Completely Closed
  • Olympic Bike Elevation Gain: 1550ft
  • Aid Stations: 1 (mile 12.45)
  • Click Here for an online map and turn by turn directions.
Sprint Bike Course (12 Miles)
  • Bike Course Completely Closed
  • Sprint Bike Elevation Gain: 685ft

Drafting: Drafting is illegal at the California Triathlons. We ask for your help in doing the best we can to help enforce the “NO DRAFTING” rules. You, the athlete, are the simplest and best way to keep the bike course safe and draft-free. We will have officials out on the bike course, but you personally need to help the sport and yourself by simply backing out of packs, slowing down or verbally mentioning to other athletes not to draft.

Run

Olympic Run Course (6.2 Miles)
  • Trail Run
  • Olympic Run Elevation Gain: 462ft
  • The course is lined with markings. Based on the weather in early summer bring a hat and sunscreen. There will be aid stations every mile dispensing water and electrolyte sports drink.
