Transition

There is one transition area for this event in Historic Downtown Folsom. Historic Downtown Folsom is approximately one mile from Negro Bar and your swim start for the Folsom Triathlon.

Lake Natoma Inn is walking distance to everything!

Swim

Directions from Downtown/Transition to Negro Bar/Swim Start

Leave well in advance (30min) of swim start time to get yourself to the start line and ready for your race.

We have porta-toilets near transition and a few at the swim start if needed.

Swim Courses (Negro Bar State Park)
  • Sprint Swim: 1/3 Mile Swim
  • Olympic Swim: .93 Mile Swim
  • Paddle Courses: 1 Mile & 2 Mile (Sprint Paddle Tri does the Olympic Tri course 1 time)

The water temperature will be approx. 58-63 degrees. Wetsuits are highly encouraged. The course will be lined with large orange and yellow neon buoys, numerous lifeguards and kayak teams. You will have a short run from the water exit to the transition area.

Shoe drop is available at the swim finish and swim start. Swim start shoes will be returned back to transition after the swim is over.

Drafting: Drafting is illegal at the Folsom Sprint Triathlon. We ask your help in doing the best we can to help enforce the “NO DRAFTING” rules. You, the athlete, are the simplest and best way to keep the bike course safe and draft-free. We will have officials out on the bike course, but you personally need to help the sport and yourself by simply backing out of packs, slowing down or verbally mentioning to other athletes not to draft.
